ParentPay acquires school meal management software provider Cypad

Jan 08, 2018

UK’s leading school payment service enhances its offering to parents, schools and caterers with the addition of tablet-based meal ordering and kitchen management platform.

ParentPay Limited, the UK’s leading provider of school payment and parental engagement services, has acquired Cypad Limited, a leader in tablet and web based solutions for school catering, local authorities and contract catering service companies.

The deal extends ParentPay’s existing dinner money management and parent meal booking platform with a suite of apps that support the entire process of providing a school meals service including selecting meals; managing production; recording meals taken; service monitoring; and providing performance indicators.

The deal will allow the UK leaders of web, tablet and mobile delivered payment and parental engagement services for schools, to deliver a more tightly integrated service to parents and caterers for school meal management.

The combination of ParentPay and Cypad creates a comprehensive, yet cost-effective tablet-based solution which is highly attractive for individual primary schools, multi-academy trusts and local authorities, through to the largest school contract caterers in the UK.

Together, the combined company will employ more than 200 people, serve over 12,500 schools in more than 190 local authorities across the UK, and provide services to more than 4 million parents.

Under the terms of the agreement, which was signed on 29th December 2017, ParentPay Limited has acquired 100% of the issued share capital in Cypad Limited.

Commenting on the deal, Clint Wilson, Group Chief Executive of ParentPay said, “By joining together the UK leaders of online payment, meal ordering and kitchen management solutions, we bring to the market a breadth and depth of solution not currently available. This unique offering delivers the best school meal management platform to parents, schools and caterers across the UK.”

He added: “Cypad’s feature-rich set of web applications, will benefit from our scale, reach and delivery expertise. This adds a new dimension to our growth strategy, allowing us to extend deeper into our customers’ operations, delivering even greater value and better service to them.”

Jonn Fredericks, Managing Director of Cypad, added, “ParentPay’s leading position in the school payments market and its continued strong growth, brings a compelling opportunity for Cypad. Combining with ParentPay’s significant customer base and leveraging their highly successful national field sales operation, means that together we can expand our offering across the UK to the benefit of the business, staff and customers alike.”

We’re excited about the journey ahead, and the opportunity to build deeply integrated solutions that deliver more for our customers.”

The announcement follows ParentPay’s acquisition of Schoolcomms in January 2017, which brought the Schoolcomms integrated and modular parental engagement, payment and parent mobile app to the group’s product portfolio.
